The 2024 Australian Rowing Championships will be held from 17 - 24 March in Penrith, NSW.

We are expecting a significant group from WA to be in attendance & will be keeping you all up to date on their performances. All our Pathway clubs are sending crews, as are UWABC and ANA Rowing Club. Presbyterian Ladies' College are the only school to venture across - given their strength at last year's HOR and National Champs, it's a great move by them to seek out the country's strongest competition to ensure their rowers aren't resting on their laurels.

Under 21 team selection is up for grabs at this regatta, and Under 19 rowers hoping for selection at the April Underage Trials will be under the microscope as well.

Our WA State Team are going through final seat racing this weekend and we're due to announce official Black Swan crews next week - stay tuned and #YeahWA!!

Clubs & Coaches - please note that entries close 11:59 NSW TIME Monday 4th March - that's a public holiday here, don't get caught out by that or by the time zone change.

How to follow racing

The ARC has a dedicated website where you can find any information you're after - that's arc.rowingaustralia.com.au

During competition, live results can be found at the regatta's RowingManager page - rowingmanager.com/regattas/6278

To find your favourite athlete - head to the 'Name Search' box and put in their last name - it will show you all the races they're entered in and results for the races they've completed.

Their livestream will be available at the ARC website and the RA Facebook page.

Sport should be a safe environment for children and young people to participate and thrive.

Club & Committee Members - Is your club compliant with their Working with Children Checks?

Coaches, Volunteers & Staff - Do you know when your WWCC expires, and how to renew?

Working in sport means we have a legal and ethical obligation to protect the children in our communities. There are many elements involved in doing this right - an easy one is ensuring your Working with Children Check processes are clear, effective, and compliant with legislation.

"The Working with Children (WWC) Check is a compulsory screening strategy for people engaging in child-related work in Western Australia (WA)".

Who needs a Working with Children Check?

The Application & Renewal Process - How do I make sure I have one, as a person in child-related work?

Obligations & Compliance - What do we need to do as a club?

TrueSport's Child Safeguarding Initiative

(This is designed for SSA's but helpful for everyone - club-specific resources are coming soon)

Umpire Convenor

The role of Umpire Convenor is set out by our Constitution, and involves making recommendations

Lynne Bayliss has served in this role for many years and at a recent Board Meeting handed this over to John Murdoch. A huge thank you to Lynne for all her work as Umpire Convenor, including running many Umpire Seminars, making recommendations to RWA for BRO development and operations, and for assisting us in setting up Juries for literally hundreds of regattas!!

John is a highly experienced World Rowing Umpire who has officiated at all levels of events, from World Championships to the Canning Bridge Classic. We welcome him to the role and are very excited about the direction for BROs in Western Australia!

Property Officer

Brett Woolfitt OAM has stepped back as Property Officer after many decades in this role - thank you Brett for your care and organisation over your tenure! Every regatta, Brett would ensure all equipment worked well, was handed out to the right people, returned safely at the end of the day, and take it home to charge batteries & undertake any maintenance tasks. Thank you Brett!

Rowing WA is now taking primary responsibiity for the radios & megaphones used by BROs at regattas but Dean Steadman has generously offered to be the BRO-in-charge on regatta day. Thank you Dean!

CUBC needs you!

If you are interested in a bit of competitive fun, a change from where you are now or something to sit alongside any school coaching, we would love to have you for our women’s squad this season.

Please check out the link in our bio for more information and email any expressions of interest to: info@curtinrowing.org.au
