TERRY SCOOK BIOGRAPHY

When it comes to coxing, Terry Scook (known more by his nickname 'Scookie') has a record that not many rowers in the sport could match.

Terry's background in rowing dates back to 1948 when he first joined the West Australian Rowing Club and the rest, as they say, is history. It's fair to say a vast majority of the Western Australian rowing fraternity have had some form of interaction with 'Scookie' in his long and successful career as both a coxswain, coach and active rowing volunteer.

Since the start of his career, Terry has a plethora of achievements and accolades. Most notably these include representing Australia at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, featuring in 21 Kings Cups crews, including placing prominently in a vast majority of these events and winning in 1955 and 1960. He has coached and coxed State Woman's Championship crews seven times and represented Australia at two Australian University Championships. Aside from coxing and coaching Terry was also a talented and active sculler and in 1955 won the Fremantle to Perth handicap race after beating John Rosser by 4 minutes.

The biography doesn't stop there with a long list of achievements in a decorated career. A full list of 'Scookies' rowing achievements can be found here.

Furthermore Terry's commitment to the sport of rowing in Western Australia was even more evident with his active role in pennant regattas from 1949 to 1990 and captures the important service he has given the entire rowing community over the past seven decades!

To celebrate the great man that Terry Scook is please join the rowing community on Saturday, 25th August 2018, at Champion Lakes Regatta Centre, to take part in a special Honorary Row Past and function to pay tribute to 'Scookie'.
