Australian Teams Announced
Published Tue 05 Mar 2024
The Australian Senior, 'A' and Under 23 Teams have been announced across the weekend - featuring no less than nine Western Australian athletes! How proud are we!
Through to the other side of a gruelling trials process lasting months, these athletes have proven their ability to move a rowing boat at a world class level.
Congratulations to the following athletes:
Annabelle McIntyre OAM | Fremantle | Senior Women's Pair |
Bronwyn Cox | UWABC | Senior Women's Sweep Squad (8+ or 4-) |
Giorgia Patten | WARC | Senior Women's Sweep Squad (8+ or 4-) |
Jacqui Swick | SRRC | Senior Women's Sweep Squad (8+ or 4-) |
Josh Hicks | SRRC | Senior Men's Eight |
Alex Rossi | WARC | Australia A Men's Sculling |
Jack Cleary | WARC | Australia A Men's Sculling |
Becky Pretorius | SRRC | Under 23 Women's Coxless Four |
Gen Hart | FRC | Under 23 Women's Coxless Four |
The Senior Team will contest World Cups II and III before official selection to the Olympic Team later this year.
The 'Australia A' Team will travel to Italy for a training camp before contesting World Cup 1. Read more about the purpose of the Australia A Team in this article from RA.
The Under 23 Team will train in Australia before heading to Princeton, USA for training camp - they'll head to St Catherine's, Canada, for the Under 23 World Championships in August.
Our congratulations also to those who made every effort to make these teams but who missed out - a huge undertaking which stood you among the best rowers in the country and in the world. Well done for putting everything on the line to give yourselves the best possible opportunity - for athletes from WA this is no easy feat given the time and expense required to travel to NSW so frequently for selection events.
Make sure you're following Rowing WA socials & our newsletter to stay up to date with these teams and their performances!
