Olympic Rowers Honoured on Australia Day

The AOC has congratulated twenty four (24) Australian Olympians - including eight rowers - from the Tokyo 2020 Games who have been honoured in the Australia Day honours announced on Australia Day.

Congratulations to Annabelle McIntyre who was awarded an OAM for her history making gold medal win in Tokyo.  Annabelle returned home as the first WA female rower to ever win Gold at an Olympics.  A moment in time that we know we're not ever going to forget.  We will forever remember "where we were..." on that day.

AOC President John Coates congratulated all the athletes on their achievements.

"So much has been said about these athletes and their wonderful Teammates. We are so very proud of every one of them - and we can be that little bit prouder today with this group honoured by their country in this way."

"We thank their families and sports who helped them achieve this honour."

Mrs Gina Rinehart made a significant contribution to assist athletes competing in four sports in Tokyo, including rowing and was awarded the Officer of the Order of Australia (AO).

Rowing WA would like to congratulate all our Australian Olympic Rowers for their outstanding achievements at Tokyo last year.  You were cheered on so loudly by us all here at home, our hearts were in our mouths and tears were shed.  The WA rowing community is so proud of you all.
