2022 Regatta Season Program
Published Fri 11 Mar 2022
2022 Regatta Season Program
With the 2022 Rowing WA Regatta Season just around the corner we wanted to update you all with what has been happening since you last competed on the water back in September 2021.
As we like to every few years, a significant regatta season review was conducted over the past 6 months with everything put on the table, including regatta dates, regatta start times, formats, included events, timing between events, grading systems, rowing score systems, medals and pennant points. Consultation included the end of 2021 season survey that went to all rowers, club and school stakeholder workshops and numerous Competitions Committee meetings. Rowing WA would like to thank all of those people that contributed to this review process and the resultant 2022 regatta program that has been developed.
More than anything, significant work has been put in to ensure that there are sufficient gaps in regatta programs to ensure maximum participation.
Below you will find three links to specific information related to the changes and resultant calendar and event program for the Pennant, Masters and All-schools seasons. These pages will provide draft programs for all regattas (noting that they are subject to change due to number of entries and other factors). We hope the information provided allows you to better plan your participation in regattas during 2022 and get the most out of your regatta participation.
Obviously there is potential for the COVID-19 requirements and the desire of individuals to not participate for their own health and safety to impact our 2022 regatta season. Currently, community sport is exempt from proof of vaccination requirements and the only restriction on community sport is that no spectators are allowed except for parents or immediate family. Rowing WA will be watching this information closely and you will be updated as relevant information comes to hand. With respect to the management of regatta entries, Rowing WA will be extending the ‘withdrawal without penalty period’ to allow as much flexibility as possible in the case that you are feeling ill or become a close contact/positive case.
However Rowing WA are confident that with the right precautions we can still have a very successful 2022 regatta season, which we look forward to commencing soon!
