Breaking with Tradition

NOT JUST THE AMRC: The day after the AMRC concludes, crews can take part in the iconic 17km Perth to Fremantle Head Race, a premiere event on the WA rowing calendar. Visiting crews also have the opportunity to row at one of our regional clubs on some of WA’s beautiful waterways the weekend before the AMRC. More information on both of these events is available here

ONCE IN A LIFETIME SOCIAL FUNCTION OPPORTUNITY: Rowing WA have secured the ‘Locker Room’ at Australia’s newest AFL venue, Optus Stadium. This venue is literally adjacent to the warm-up areas of AFL football teams. Social Function participants will enjoy access to the runway around the ground and weather pending, may even be able access the player benches and have a drink on the edge of the field. For AU$50, attendees will receive access to this amazing venue and a great selection of food. A cash bar will be available. More information is available here.

EXTENSIVE BOAT HIRE PROGRAM: We know that trailering boats across the country can be a big undertaking. WA clubs and schools are more than happy to help out interstate and international crews with hiring boats locally to make the trip even easier. Lots of interstate crews have already contacted WA clubs and schools directly which is great. Some of the boats still available are listed here but we also encourage you to directly contact the clubs and schools to see what else they have available. RWA will update the boat hire list as more boats become available. Please check back regularly. TIP: Perth-based clubs and boys schools will be your best option. Schoolgirls will be in the middle of their season.

AMAZING ROWER EXPERIENCE: Champion Lakes is the only international standard rowing venue in Australia outside of Penrith. It’s an amazing facility that you should experience. If you were here for the 2010 AMRC, you will not recognise the venue now. Rowing WA will also establish the following for the 2019 AMRC to ensure an awesome participant experience:

  • two dedicated athlete lounges (with multiple screens streaming the livestream action) with amazing views of the course. One of these lounges will have a bar open each afternoon.
  • Extensive catering options with a variety of food trucks on-site each day
  • a dedicated warm-up zone with 10 ergo’s
  • Indoor/Outdoor marketplace to keep participants engaged off the water

SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY: Even though you may be a long way from home, the 4 days of AMRC action will be livestreamed through the Rowing WA and Rowing Australia Facebook pages.

Below are downloadable versions of the the 2019 AMRC Poster and Flyer. We encourage clubs to print the poster in A3 and post on their clubhouse noticeboards to promote the event to their members.

We hope this teaser of the action-packed program of events on offer encourages participants, their family and friends to come an visit Western Australia and enjoy some of the amazing tourism and rowing opportunities on offer.
